The Spirit 111 sloop is the largest single-masted wooden yacht to be built in the UK since the 1930’s and also one of the most environmentally friendly sailing superyachts ever built.
Its radical curved interior, created by Spirit Yachts in partnership with Rhoades Young, features flowing walls and bulkheads built with a combination of Sipo, teak and American Chestnut. Fastmount’s hidden fixings were used to help bring the contoured look to life.
“In keeping with the yacht’s interior, the owner didn’t want to see any fixings, so it took us a long while to find something until we tried the Fastmount Metal Range, which worked perfectly,” said Adrian Gooderham, Yard Manager at Spirit Yachts. “We now use Fastmount as the standard fittings on all Spirit yachts.”
A combination of the Fastmount Standard Range and Low Profile Range was used on bulkheads and headlinings, while the Metal Range was used for sole boards, chosen according to panel weight. The final result was smooth, contoured lines throughout the interior without visible fixings, with the added bonus of non-sequential panel removal to gain access to services.
